built object
A distinct physical structure or landform constructed through deliberate processes.
A built object is a man-made construction which can be regarded as an individual entity, distinct from the surrounding landscape. It generally does not refer to built networks such as road, rail, or wiring systems. Built objects include buildings, structures, and certain outdoor places.
Built objects are categorized by their basic physical or structural form. This form may determine the range of uses to be made of the object, but is not directly tied to a particular usage.
The construction must have an individual identity within its surroundings. A continuous transport or utility network generally has a different form from the distinct structure or outdoor place.
