outdoor window screens
Exterior roller blinds or opaque jalousies that cover windows to block light, with projecting sunshades excluded.
Outdoor window screens are roller blinds or opaque jalousies installed on the exterior sides of windows, which cover the windows and prevent light from penetrating. They may be used for privacy, security, to keep the interior dark, or to keep the interior cool. They serve the same purpose as shutters but are not as decorative.
Window screens do not include sunshading, which is affixed at an angle to the facade and allows some light to penetrate windows while blocking the most direct sunlight.
The screen covers the exterior face of the window. Projecting sunshades remain separate because they intercept direct sun while allowing some light to pass rather than fully covering the opening.
