geometric pattern

A facade color pattern organized into recognizable geometric shapes, even where their outlines are somewhat rough.

A geometric pattern is an arrangement of different hues or shades in a clearly defined layout using shapes that are mathematically definable. Some degree of roughness is possible in the lines or shapes, as long as they can easily be recognized as geometric. Examples of geometric patterns include checkerboarding, tessellations, irregular arrangements of rectangles, and grids.

The shapes must remain recognizable despite any roughness. Checkerboards, tessellations, rectangles, and grids are examples rather than a required repeating sequence.

Organic patterns use amorphous or naturalistic arrangements. The overall geometric layout distinguishes this pattern from those irregular forms.
