police academy

A center for training police officers in the skills and practices of their jobs.

A police academy is a center designated for training police officers in their roles. They usually provide training for new and experienced police officers as well as refresher courses.

The institution trains police officers for their occupational roles. New recruits and experienced officers can both receive instruction.

Refresher courses continue the training of serving officers. The academy is distinguished from a police station primarily used for operational policing.
