A music school is a place where classes are held in which students learn the musical arts, including performance, interpretation, conducting, and composition. It may be affiliated with a university or exist independently; it can also serve students who plan either to remain amateurs or to become professional musicians.
The instruction can concern performance, interpretation, conducting, or composition. It need not focus exclusively on instrumental performance.
Students may intend to remain amateurs. Neither a professional career objective nor university affiliation is required for this music-school use.
