A lightning bolt or natural electric charge damages a structure partly or completely.
A structure is damaged by lightning when any natural electric charge strikes the structure through the air or through conduction by surrounding objects and damages part or all of the structure.
The natural charge can reach the structure directly through the air or by conduction from surrounding objects. A direct strike on the structure itself is therefore not required.
Some part of the structure must be damaged. A nearby lightning discharge that leaves the object undamaged does not establish this event.
