A firm or person that prepares technical drawings of a building's site and structure for engineering or construction.

A surveyor is a firm or person responsible for preparing technical drawings of the building's site and structure for use in other engineering and construction applications.

The drawings describe the site and structure for use in further technical work. The surveyor's product supports engineering and construction applications rather than being defined as an architectural design proposal.

A ground surveyor specializes in maps and diagrams of the site. A quantity surveyor calculates quantities and values of building supplies, which is a different activity despite the shared word surveyor.
