Foot traffic signals are lights, mechanical flags, audio speakers, or other forms of signage which display or broadcast dynamically changing commands to pedestrian traffic. The most common form is a pair of lights signaling pedestrians to walk or to stop at a road intersection.

The command is addressed to people traveling on foot. Audible indications are possible alongside or instead of visible lights.

A vehicle traffic signal addresses drivers. A fixed directional sign gives route guidance without the changing movement command of a pedestrian signal.
