guided busway

A track-guided pathway for rubber-tired buses, which may have drivers or operate automatically.

A guided busway is a path for buses which are guided along a track. The vehicles using it are rubber-tired coaches (unlike trains) which in some cases are operated automatically without drivers.

The vehicles are rubber-tired buses guided along a track. Driverless operation is possible but is not required.

The guidance arrangement distinguishes this route from an ordinary roadway carrying freely steered buses. The guided vehicles are still rubber-tired buses.
