wholesaler

A place where goods are sold to commercial, institutional, or industrial purchasers.

A wholesaler is a place designated for the sale of goods to professional users, including other businesses, institutions, retailers, commercial entities, and industrial users. These generally do not cater to regular individual walk-in customers (as shops do).

Wholesalers may sell virtually any type of goods, and very often sell products, like construction materials and industrial supplies, which are not regularly purchased by individuals for their own use.

The intended purchaser establishes the wholesale setting. An institution buying supplies for its own operations is a professional purchaser alongside a retailer buying for resale; wholesale customers need not all resell the goods.
