A food wholesaler is a place where food retailers, restaurants or other large-scale commercial purchasers buy foodstuffs in bulk, usually for resale at a higher price to their own customers.

The customers purchase food for commercial or institutional purposes. Resale is usual, but an organization can also purchase supplies for its own food service.

A wholesale fish market specializes in fish or seafood. Ordinary food shops address individual retail customers, while the wholesaler supplies professional purchasers in bulk.
