vacuum insulated panels

Constructed panels containing a protected vacuum layer for thermal insulation.

Vacuum insulated panels are a high-tech form of thermal insulation, built to keep a layer of empty space within them virtually free of gas. They are expensive but are generally the most effective form of insulation available. They must be built to absorb gases around the edges and keep them from getting into the vacuum area. They can eventually lose their insulating properties as their seals are gradually infiltrated.
