Privacy Policy
1. Scope and contact
This Privacy Policy explains how SKYDB Corporation, 400 E Randolph St #2322, Chicago, IL 60601, United States ("SKYDB"), handles personal information in connection with its websites, apps, APIs, connectors, data and media services, orders, and communications, including email and chat. SKYDB is responsible for the processing it determines. Contact: [email protected].
The Terms of Use govern platform use. Paid purchases are additionally governed by the Terms of Service. This policy provides privacy information; accepting a contract or reading this policy does not itself supply consent for optional marketing or other processing that requires separate consent.
2. Information collected
Information provided directly includes names, contact and account details, profile and photo-credit names, contributions and uploaded files, saved searches and alerts, inquiries, newsletter preferences, and customer or order information. Uploaded files may include metadata. Optional profile fields and public contributions should not contain confidential information or unnecessary personal information about others.
SKYDB also receives technical and usage information, such as IP addresses, browser and device information, request and activity records, account or client identifiers, approximate location, and language, unit, or currency preferences. Cloudflare supplies country information used for automatic price currency; browser language does not determine that currency. Cookies and browser storage are described in the Cookie Policy.
Sources may also include authorized sign-in providers, payment providers, customer representatives and authorized agents, contributors, public professional sources, and licensed data suppliers. Public professional records can include a person's name, employer, role, and business contact details. An AI agent acting for a user can submit information through authorized interfaces; the relevant user's rights and permissions still apply.
3. Purposes and legal grounds
SKYDB uses information to create and administer accounts, authenticate access, deliver requested features and paid products, process orders and payments, maintain source and contribution history, answer inquiries, and provide requested messages. Security and operational uses include preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing access limits, investigating errors, measuring service performance, and improving services. Legal uses include accounting, tax, dispute handling, copyright notices, and compliance with lawful requests.
Where the GDPR or comparable law applies, processing necessary for a requested contract or precontractual steps relies on that necessity; applicable legal duties support compliance processing. Other processing may rely on legitimate interests in security, reliable services, maintaining a sourced professional database, and handling business communications, subject to the required assessment of individual rights. Consent is used where required, including relevant optional marketing and device-storage activities. Consent can be withdrawn without affecting earlier lawful processing. Providing information needed for an account, order, or requested feature may be necessary to deliver it.
4. Public contributions and licensed records
Public profiles, contributions, source history, and photo credits may be visible to other users or included in licensed data and media deliveries, according to the relevant feature and permissions. A profile name and photo-credit author line can control which name is displayed. Closing an account does not automatically remove historical contributions or attribution; review those names before closure and contact SKYDB about personal-data concerns.
The contribution license in the Terms of Use concerns intellectual property. It does not override privacy rights or authorize unrestricted use of private customer materials. Professional records may be provided to licensed customers for permitted business use. Receiving a business contact record does not give the recipient consent to send marketing. Requests to correct or remove personal information in a public or licensed record can be sent to [email protected].
5. Recipients and external services
Information may be disclosed to hosting, infrastructure, security, communication, payment, and other service providers as needed for their functions. These include Cloudflare for traffic protection and country information, and Stripe when used to process payments. Payment details entered on Stripe-hosted payment pages are handled by Stripe; SKYDB receives transaction, billing, and payment-status information needed to administer the purchase.
Other recipients may include authorized people in a customer's organization, recipients chosen through a sharing feature, licensees of public or professional records, professional advisers, and authorities where disclosure is required or otherwise lawful. A business transfer may involve relevant information, subject to applicable safeguards and notice requirements. Third-party sign-in, chat, AI clients, and linked sites have their own privacy practices. Connecting an agent or external service can disclose the information the user authorizes that service to access.
6. Communications and choices
Account verification, security, order, billing, and material service notices support the requested service and may continue after a marketing opt-out. Newsletters, offers, and other promotional messages follow the relevant signup, preferences, and any legally required permission for the purpose and channel. Agreeing to the Terms of Use alone is not marketing consent.
Unsubscribe or withdraw marketing consent through the option in the message or by contacting [email protected], without charge. A newsletter request does not authorize unrelated messages or additional channels. Account settings control available profile, alert, and display choices; browser controls can manage local storage. SKYDB does not use a signup disclosure as permission for every future communication.
7. Retention, security, and international processing
Information is retained according to its purpose, account or contract status, security needs, legal retention requirements, and applicable claim periods. Contribution and source history can remain relevant to database integrity after an account closes. Order, consent, and accounting evidence may need longer retention than an active profile. Deletion requests are assessed against those purposes and applicable rights; backups may remain until their normal replacement cycle.
SKYDB uses access controls and other measures to protect information, but no system is completely secure. Legally required breach notices are provided to affected people and authorities. SKYDB is based in the United States, and information may be processed in other countries where its infrastructure and providers operate. International transfers must meet applicable legal requirements, using an applicable adequacy mechanism, contractual safeguards, or another permitted basis as appropriate. Contact SKYDB for information about safeguards relevant to your data.
8. Privacy rights and requests
Depending on applicable law, rights may include access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, withdrawing consent, and objecting to processing, including direct marketing. Residents of jurisdictions with applicable opt-out rights may request an opt-out of sale, sharing, or targeted-advertising processing as those laws define it. These rights and exceptions depend on the processing and applicable law; SKYDB does not treat a public contribution license as a waiver of them.
Send requests to [email protected]. SKYDB may request proportionate identity or representative-authority verification and will respond within applicable deadlines. Where available, an authorized agent may make a request, an adverse decision may be appealed by replying to SKYDB, and a complaint may be submitted to the relevant data-protection authority. Exercising a protected privacy right does not by itself justify unlawful discrimination.
9. Children and policy changes
Account holders must be at least 18 years old under the Terms of Use. SKYDB services are not directed to children under 13, and SKYDB does not knowingly seek their personal information. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided personal information should contact [email protected] so SKYDB can review and address it.
SKYDB will publish changes with an updated date and provide appropriate notice of material changes. A revised notice does not by itself create consent for a new purpose; SKYDB will obtain separate consent where required and preserve mandatory rights. Questions may also be sent through the contact form.
