transporter bridge

A bridge which conveys traffic across its span via gondolas suspended from a high track or cables.

A transporter bridge is a bridge with moving gondolas or platforms transporting traffic across its span like a ferry. The cables or framework generally has a much higher clearance than the approach deck or the moving platforms, so that some part of the span is always open for traffic below.
