adobe

A load-bearing frame constructed of sunbaked earthen materials mixed with natural fibers.

Adobe is a structural material composed of earthen products such as clay, sand, mud, and/or animal dung, reinforced with straw, sticks, rice husks, or other natural fibers. Although adobe is usually constructed from brick-like pieces, it differs from regular masonry by being dried in the sun rather than baked in a kiln. It is common in ancient architecture in sunny regions, but is also used in modern times, often for its insulating properties and low impact on the environment.
