guest house

Lodging facilities for invited guests or for visitors of a particular affiliated place, group, or event.

A guest house is a lodging facility, usually similar to a hotel, but which is not available to just anyone who wants to stay there. It is generally reserved either for invited guests or for persons visiting with a particular purpose which matches the defined role of the guest house - for example to visit a particular institution, to attend some conference, to assist in some project, or any other such reason. In many cases the staffing at a guest house is less than would be normal for a hotel of the same size.

Eligibility for lodging depends on invitation or an identified purpose connected with the facility. Paying for a room does not by itself establish eligibility to stay.

The lodging can resemble a hotel in its rooms and services. The restricted guest group distinguishes it from accommodation available to any traveler seeking a room.
