Beauty salons are any kind of salons for aesthetic, hygienic, or regular personal care. These include hair stylists, manicure and pedicure, make-up parlors, and several other related forms of service. They do not include barber shops or massage parlors.
Hair styling, nail care, and makeup services can each fall within the scope. A salon need not provide every listed treatment.
A barber shop principally cuts or shaves hair and is expressly excluded here. A nail salon identifies the more specific hand-and-foot care service.
