bingo
A location designated for American-style bingo games, where players match called numbers to a card.
Bingo parlors or bingo halls are places designated for American-style bingo, a game of chance in which each player has a pre-printed card with a matrix of numbers on it. The object is to complete the required winning pattern on the card by matching numbers which are called out to everyone. It is usually played for money, and is a form of gambling. It is often used to raise money for charities or religious organizations.
The shared number calls are compared with each player's card. The winning requirement is a specified pattern; it need not require marking every space on the card.
The hall is designated for this particular game. Charitable fundraising is one possible purpose, while an ordinary social room occasionally used for a game is distinct from a designated bingo venue.
