wine tasting
A place devoted to culinary sampling of wines for enjoyment, learning, or personal research.
A wine tasting room is laid out for sampling wine rather than for drinking it by the glass. Small pours and a spitting vessel at a counter facing the taster are what mark it out.
It belongs with a producer more often than with a bar. Wineries, cooperatives and merchants keep one so a visitor can work through a range in a single sitting.
The purpose separates it from its neighbors. A wine bar sells drinks for the evening and a restaurant serves wine with food, while a tasting room exists for judging what is in the glass.
