A biomedical research facility is a place where scientific knowledge about medicine, pharmacology, veterinary science, biology, biochemistry, or other forms of life sciences is researched, usually through laboratory experiments and computer modeling.
Human medicine, veterinary science, and broader biological sciences are included. Research need not involve direct treatment of patients.
Laboratory experiments and computer modeling are common methods. The definition concerns scientific investigation, distinct from a clinic whose activity is providing medical care.
