maximum roof overhang distance
The maximum extent that the roof of a structure overhangs the unenclosed space below it.
A roof that reaches beyond the walls below it covers open ground. This measure is the greatest distance it extends over that unenclosed space.
The open space underneath is what defines it. A canopy over a forecourt, a stadium roof above the stands and a deep eave all count. A floor projecting over an enclosed room does not.
The figure is a maximum, read where the roof reaches furthest. A roof that oversails on one side only is described by that side, and the other sides do not reduce the value.
