Ukrainian KATOTTG code
The nineteen-character identifier of a Ukrainian administrative unit or hromada territory in the official KATOTTG codifier.
The codifier was introduced by ministerial order in November 2020 and replaced KOATUU, the earlier Ukrainian administrative classification. It was built for the reform that reorganized the country into hromadas.
Nineteen characters: UA followed by seventeen digits in six blocks. Two digits for the oblast, Crimea or a city of special status; two for the raion; three for the hromada; three for the settlement; two for a city district; and five for a serial number that makes the whole code unique. Kyiv's Darnytskyi district is UA80000000000210193, where 80 is Kyiv and 02 the city-district block.
Levels that do not apply are filled with zeros rather than left out, so the zeros in the middle of a code are structural and must not be trimmed. There is no check digit; the last five digits are a serial, not a computed value.
The kind of unit is recorded in a separate column of the codifier and is not part of the code. KOATUU codes cannot be converted to this scheme by any rule, so a mapping table is needed for older data.
