fencing

A place for fencing training or contests between protected opponents using foils, epees, or sabers.

A fencing site is a place designated for training or performance in classical swordfighting contests, in which masked and armored participants attempt to strike each other with a thin sword while parrying the opponent's strikes. Either a foil, épée, or saber may be used as a weapon.

Practice and performance of the swordfighting sport are both included. Foil, epee, and saber are the equipment variants named in the definition.

The use is distinguished by fencing contests and their protective equipment. A display of historical swords alone is a different activity.
