physical alteration
An event associated with physical changes in an object, especially improvements and reconfigurations.
A physical alteration is a milestone or notable occurrence in the lifecycle of an object, in which that object is improved, relocated, reconfigured, or otherwise changed in a physical or material sense. This includes maintenance events where physical parts of the object are replaced or changed in a significant way.
The event concerns a material change to the object itself. A change in ownership or occupation can occur without a corresponding physical alteration.
Replacement or reconfiguration can affect only part of an object. Such work does not necessarily place the whole structure under renovation, which has separate requirements for scope and disruption of use.
