rotating ride
Any freestanding amusement ride which turns, spins, or swings around a pivot point or axis.
Rotating rides are a large class of amusement rides; together with roller coasters they constitute the majority of motion rides at amusement parks. They include any freestanding motion ride structure which turns, spins, or swings around an axis or a pivot point.
The passenger carriers move around a pivot or axis belonging to the freestanding ride. The motion can be continuous rotation or a swing through part of a circle.
A roller coaster carries riders along a track with a changing course. A rotating ride instead organizes its movement around the pivot or axis.
