occupancy zone

A section of a structure occupied by a single tenant or related group of tenants.

An occupancy zone is a section of a structure defined by the tenant (or group of related tenants) which occupies it.

The boundary follows the space occupied by the tenant or related tenants. A change of use within that space does not necessarily create another occupancy zone.

This differs from a usage zone, which groups space by activity. A tenant can occupy space used for several related functions.
