Email communication is any conveyance of data or information through electronic mail or messaging. It is generally analogous to word of mouth communication, except it has the advantage that it can be referred to in the future without distortions of memory.
The data reaches the receiver through an electronic message. The message can provide a record of what was conveyed, but its retention does not make the receiver a direct observer of the underlying fact.
An email can point to a separately identifiable document or original source. The communication medium and the evidence cited within it are distinct, and the source should be traced to its origin when that origin is available.
