fiberglass sheeting

Related terms: plastic sheeting · plastic roof · fiberglass roof

A roof covering of rigid plastic sheets or panels reinforced with glass fibers, often formed with corrugations.

Fiberglass sheet roofing consists of hard plastic reinforced with glass fibers. It is often corrugated for stability and to shed water. The matrix for the fibers can be any of various types of plastic, often epoxy, polyester, vinylester, or thermoplastic. It provides a durable, inexpensive, and watertight shelter.

The glass fibers reinforce a plastic matrix, and the finished covering is a hard sheet. Corrugation is common but is not required for every panel.

A glass roof has glass as its principal outer surface. A fabric roof uses suspended flexible material, which is a different arrangement from the rigid reinforced sheets described here.
