A firm specializing in elevator technology that plans or assists installation of a building's elevator systems.

An elevator consultant is a firm which specializes in elevator technology, and which is hired to plan or assist in the installation of a building's elevator systems.

The consultant contributes elevator expertise to planning or installation. Assistance with installation is included without requiring the consultant to be the contractor that physically fits the elevators.

Elevator engineering calculates loads, space, speed, and other requirements. The consultant's broader planning or assistance role is distinct from both those calculations alone and elevator installation work.
