transformer cluster
An outdoor transformer or group of transformers transferring electrical energy between circuit systems.
A transformer cluster is a freestanding collection of machines, or possibly a single machine, which transfers electrical energy from one circuit system to another. These generally occur at electrical substations and similar points on an electric power grid. Transformers which are enclosed within a building or container structure are not listed as distinct freestanding structures.
A single exposed transformer can qualify as well as a group. The outdoor, freestanding arrangement distinguishes the machine structure from a building containing transformers.
Transformers transfer energy by magnetic induction between circuits. The equipment is common at substations, but equipment enclosed in a building or container is not a separate freestanding transformer structure.
