no electric lighting

The absence of any electrical system available for installed or plug-in lighting.

A structure is listed as having no electric lighting when there are no lighting fixtures installed, and there are no outlets available for lighting appliances. This is often the case for structures without occupiable interiors, as well as for unwired buildings that rely on candlelight, torchlight, gaslight, or passive lighting (through windows or skylights).

Both conditions must hold: there are no installed electrical lighting fixtures and no outlets available for lighting appliances. Empty sockets available for portable lamps would instead permit a plug-in lighting system.

The absence concerns electrical lighting rather than all illumination. Daylight, candles, torches, and gaslight can still light the space.
