A mutually certified relationship between two persons on good terms with each other.
A friend connection between two persons is a mutually agreed-upon relationship, usually indicating trust and permitting content, personal information, and networking data to be shared at a high level (although certain content may be kept private at the discretion of the originating party).
Both people agree to the connection. A pending friend request remains one-way until the second person accepts it.
The connection can support broad sharing while leaving particular material private. Mutual friendship does not remove the originating person's discretion over that content.
