Food service locations are places where food is served fresh directly to the consumer in a non-restaurant setting, either to be eaten on location or taken away and eaten immediately elsewhere. This excludes restaurants, fast food outlets, and food shops. It mainly includes various forms of service where food is purchased and picked up directly from behind a counter.
Food can be eaten at the site or taken elsewhere for immediate consumption. Seating is therefore not required for every food-service location.
The counter-service examples cover fresh food supplied outside the separate restaurant and fast-food definitions. Grocery or packaged-food retail remains excluded.
