table football
A location designated for football/soccer games played on a table with figurettes on movable rods.
A table football location is a site designated for the pub game variously called table soccer, foosball, kicker, or table football. The game is similar to soccer except it is played with small wooden or plastic men which slide and rotate on 8 movable rods. The object is to shoot a small ball into the opponent's goal while protecting one's own goal.
This usage is only assigned to locations especially designated for it - not to pubs or social rooms which happen to have table football equipment.
The players control figures fixed to rods above a small playing surface, using them to strike the ball toward a goal. A venue expressly intended for this game differs from a pub that supplies a table as an incidental amenity.
