regional courthouse

A general-purpose court of law whose authority is defined by a particular territorial jurisdiction.

A regional courthouse is a court of law for a general range of court cases, whose jurisdiction is defined by a particular region - usually at a national, sub-national, or local level.

The range of cases is general, while the territorial jurisdiction establishes the court's level or area of authority. The term is not restricted to an intermediate level of government.

National, subnational, and local courts are usual examples. A special-purpose court instead has a remit limited to a particular kind of case.
