A wild mouse roller coaster is any kind of roller coaster, with a vertical track variation greater than 10 meters, in which people ride on detached cars instead of trains. The track arrangement is usually a circuit, but can also be a twister circuit or a shuttle format.
The experience of a wild mouse roller coaster is substantially different from a normal roller coaster, and the cab arrangement affects the design in several ways. Because the track does not need to accommodate long trains, dips and turns can be sharper, and can be hidden outside of the rider's horizon for an added dimension of surprise.
The detached passenger cars distinguish the ride from a train of coupled cars. The route can still have a circuit, tightly winding circuit, or shuttle layout.
