pathway

A site, route, or route section carrying vehicle, animal, or foot traffic within a transportation network.

A pathway is a site or route, or section of a route, for any kind of vehicle, animal, or foot traffic. It includes roadways as well as sidewalks, and structures through which major transportation lines pass.

The route can carry pedestrians or animals as well as vehicles. A sidewalk therefore has the same broad movement function as a road despite serving different traffic.

A node provides entry or interchange at a point in the network. A pathway concerns the place or route along which traffic moves.
