movable wall

A full-height internal or external partition whose position can be easily shifted.

A movable wall is an internal or external partition spanning at least one floor level in height, whose position can be shifted at will without construction activity. These are common in event spaces, ballrooms, conference centers, and sports facilities, where different users have varying space needs. Movable walls can sometimes be stowed away when a user wants the whole available space.

The partition can be repositioned in normal use without demolition or rebuilding. It spans at least the height of one floor level, and it can be internal or external.

Loose screens below full floor height do not meet this definition. Stowing a partition away is one possible arrangement, but a wall can qualify when it shifts position without disappearing into storage.
