clock/bell tower
An independent tower designed to hold bells, display clocks, or combine both functions for public viewing or listening.
Bell/clock towers are independent structures for holding clocks and/or bells, usually located in an open space for public viewing or listening.
Bell towers are designed to hold bells, such as carillons, chimes, or clock-chimes, and clock towers are designed to display clock faces prominently. Because many towers serve both functions (often with the clock controlling some or all of the bells), one type is used for both.
Towers for clocks or bells which form parts of other structures (such as churches, train stations, or city halls) are not considered separate structures.
