The award recognizes the successful design and execution of Finnish projects built on site with concrete and brick, taking account of architectural and structural quality and benefits to users.

Its material scope is site-built concrete and masonry construction. The recognition can concern an individual building or a larger housing or development project.

The assessment considers the design and execution of the project together with its benefits to users. Renovated buildings can be recognized alongside new construction; the prize does not simply identify the lowest initial construction cost.
