delivery entrance

Related terms: loading dock · freight entrance · freight dock · goods dock · goods entrance

An entry point into a structure intended mainly for cargo, mail, or other deliveries.

A delivery entrance is an entry point into a building intended mainly for the ingress of deliveries. The most common form is a loading dock, but this can also be a special doorway for mail deliveries, package shipments, or inventory arrival.

The entrance primarily receives deliveries rather than ordinary pedestrian traffic. A loading dock is common, but a dedicated doorway can serve the same purpose.

Mail, packages, and inventory can arrive through different physical arrangements. The delivery purpose is separate from the size of the doorway or the presence of a raised dock.
