psychotherapy
A clinic or professional office providing psychotherapy to address distressing patterns of thought, emotion, or behavior.
A psychotherapy clinic is a doctor's office or group of offices where professional psychotherapists help patients to resolve patterns of thought, beliefs, or behavior which are interfering with their lives, or which impede their abilities to function or to enjoy happiness. Treatment commonly uses structured conversation and other psychological methods rather than medication, electrical treatment, or physical manipulation.
The therapy uses psychological methods, commonly structured conversation. It addresses patterns that interfere with daily life or emotional functioning.
Medication, electrical treatment, and bodily manipulation are separate treatment methods. Psychotherapy can accompany medical care without those other methods becoming psychotherapy themselves.
