secondary facade material

Material used for the non-display side(s) of a structure, or used in less than 10% of its facade area.

The secondary facade material(s) of any built object are the substances which form either less than 10% of its total facade area, or form at least one non-display side. Non-display sides include the back side as well as walls designed to abut other structures.

If the material covers more than 10% of the display facade, it should be listed as the primary facade material.

The non-display-side condition is an alternative to the small-area condition. A material can cover a substantial rear or abutting wall and still have this secondary role; its use on a display facade is assessed separately.
