The total number of foundation piles inserted into the ground below a structure to support it.

The number of piles in a structure is the total quantity of foundation piers which are driven or bored into the earth for structural support.

Each pile is a foundation support extending into the earth. Both driven and bored forms belong to the stated quantity.

The count describes the number of these supports. It is distinct from their combined length, the foundation's area, or the amount of material used to construct them.
