A territorially defined constituent nation recognized as a political part of a larger country.
A nation is a territorially defined constituent political community recognized as part of a larger country.
In this territorial sense, the nation has a named homeland and a constitutional or established place within the country. Its institutions and degree of autonomy depend on that country's arrangements.
A country is the sovereign territorial unit. Nation can also mean a people without a separately defined territory, but that social meaning is not a geographic subdivision.
