investor
A person or company providing capital for a structure's development in the hope of a financial return.
An investor is a person or company which invests capital in the development of a building or structure with the hope of earning a higher return based on the success of the project. Often investments are carried out into legal entities which hold the investor's interest in a piece of real estate.
The contribution is investment capital committed to the development. Payment for design or construction work is a different transaction from investing in the project's success.
The interest can be held through a legal entity that owns the real estate. The investor therefore need not hold the property title directly in its own name.
