division

A division is a formally delimited part of a territory whose official class is a division.

The term does not carry a universal rank or set of powers. The governing system determines whether the unit is administrative, statistical, or self-governing and which larger unit contains it.

This geographic meaning concerns a bounded place. A company division is an organizational unit and has no territorial identity merely because it shares the same word.
