soapstone
A soft, talc-rich metamorphic rock with a slippery feel, used as a natural stone material on building facades.
Soapstone is a soft metamorphic rock composed mainly of talc with various amounts of chlorite, amphiboles, and other minerals. It feels somewhat slippery to the touch, hence its name.
Talc is the principal mineral, with other minerals contributing to the rock. Soapstone names the combined natural material rather than an individual mineral.
The slippery feel explains the name. It does not indicate a soap coating or an artificial surface treatment.
