multi-lit

A window divided into a grid or another arrangement of smaller panes, most of which cannot be opened.

A multi-lit window is a window which is divided into a grid or other arrangement of smaller panes, most of which are unopenable. Individual panels may be of medium size, or may be very small like the pieces of a stained glass window.

The panes can be medium-sized or very small, and their arrangement need not be a rectangular grid. Most must remain fixed, although some may open.

A stained-glass window has the coloring described in its definition. Many clear panes, or uniformly very lightly tinted panes, remain within the multi-lit form.
