deck width
The narrowest width across a bridge's main transit platform, measured perpendicular to the span.
The deck width of a bridge is the narrowest measurement across the transit platform of a bridge, measured from one end to the other extreme perpendicular to the span at that point.
A wider portion of a variable-width deck does not increase the minimum. The crosswise direction is established by the span at the point being measured.
The value covers the transit platform from one outer extreme to the other. It is not the width of a single traffic lane or the length of the bridge route.
